Our Story
Hi, we are Viki and Alonso – two millennials who grew up not having smartphones until we were teenagers. We remember a time before phones started to dominate our attention.
We are not against smartphones; on the contrary, we cherish them. As expats with families far away, we are happy to have the opportunity to speak to them on a daily basis. We are grateful for this technological advancement which helps us stay connected, drive our productivity, and stay organised.
But for us, it’s about balance. As much as we appreciate our smartphhones, we do not want to let them take over our lives.
Life happens outside of our phones
ReCover was founded out of the motivation to battle the unnecessary overuse of our smartphones. In our opinion, it has become too normal to grab the smartphone any “free” second we think we have, and then be absorbed by it.
When we became aware of our own behaviour and that of the people around us, we wanted to do something about it. We thought we cannot be the only ones who are bothered by this excessive dependency on our phones, especially when we use it on auto-pilot mode without even thinking about what we are actually doing there.
Our goal was to find a solution which sets us free from this compulsive, auto-pilot behaviour, without feeling like we have to make any compromises. We wanted a simple, physical tool, which we could use anytime, anywhere. It was also important to us that the solution comes into effect before we even unlock our phone.
Our mission
is to change the paradigm from being consumed by our smartphones to consciously consuming our smartphones.
ReCover empowers you to create a healthier relationship with your smartphone by reminding you to set a clear intention before unlocking it.
It helps you turn impulsive digital habits into conscious decisions.
